How to Trade

Jhin's trading pattern against Aphelios revolves around understanding which weapons Aphelios currently has equipped. When Aphelios has Calibrum (sniper rifle), respect his extended range poke and avoid standing near marked minions. Your Deadly Flourish (W) outranges most of his weapon combinations, so look to root him when he steps up to CS, especially after your support lands any damage to proc the mark. Your fourth shot is your primary trading tool - use it to punish Aphelios when he's reloading or switching weapons with Phase (W), as he's briefly vulnerable during weapon transitions. The key interaction to abuse is Jhin's burst versus Aphelios's sustained DPS. Aphelios wants extended trades where he can stack Crescendum (chakram) or apply Severum (lifesteal pistol) healing. Jhin wants quick Q-auto-W trades and then back off during the reload. When Aphelios has Infernum (flamethrower), avoid standing in your minion wave as his Q can splash devastating AoE damage. When pushing for recalls, be mindful that Aphelios's Moonlight Vigil (R) can turn a dive attempt - his Infernum or Crescendum ultimates in particular can devastate you under tower if you're caught in the wave.

Rush Collector as your first item - the lethality synergizes perfectly with Jhin's burst pattern and helps you delete Aphelios before he can utilize his lifesteal from Severum. Your goal is to end fights quickly rather than let Aphelios stack chakrams or sustain through trades. For boots, Swiftness Boots can be valuable if Aphelios frequently has Gravitum, as the slow resistance helps you escape his root setup. If the enemy team lacks heavy CC, consider Berserker's Greaves for the movement speed on crits. Executioner's Calling is a worthwhile early purchase if Aphelios is running Bloodthirster or has a healing support - cutting his Severum sustain significantly reduces his dueling power. Into late game, Guardian Angel becomes essential as Aphelios's teamfight damage with Infernum R can one-shot you.

Team Fighting

In teamfights, your roles are distinctly different: Jhin provides pick potential and cleanup with Curtain Call (R), while Aphelios wants to stack chakrams and hit multi-target Infernum abilities. Position to use your ultimate before fights fully engage - catching Aphelios with Curtain Call before he can set up his weapon rotation is ideal. If Aphelios has Crescendum and gets onto your frontline, he becomes extremely dangerous with stacked chakrams. Your W matters for peeling or catching Aphelios out of position. Since Aphelios has no mobility abilities, a well-timed Deadly Flourish can lock him down for your team to burst. Watch for his Moonlight Vigil - if he has Infernum equipped, his R can win teamfights single-handedly. Try to spread from your team when you see him looking for the engage.
