What to remember
- This matchup heavily punishes Ezreal for predictable positioning.
- Most early deaths land 2:00-6:00 (64% of them). Play safe there.
- Survive to 5:41 (median first death)
- Track Miss Fortune's Strut (W) passive movement speed - if she hasn't taken damage recently, she'll run you down. Poke her with Q periodically just to remove her passive speed bonus, even if you're not looking to trade.
How to Trade
This matchup heavily punishes Ezreal for predictable positioning. Miss Fortune's Double Up (Q) bounces deal critical damage when you stand behind low-health minions, so never position directly behind dying creeps. Her Love Tap passive means she wants to alternate targets between you and minions for maximum damage, so if she auto-attacks a minion, expect her next auto to come your way. Your Mystic Shot (Q) outranges her auto attacks, so poke from max range during her Double Up cooldown (7-5 seconds). The key window is when she uses Q on the wave - you have a brief moment to trade back without taking bounce damage. However, avoid extended trades at all costs; her Strut (W) attack speed steroid combined with Love Tap will outdamage your DPS in sustained fights. If she lands Make It Rain (E) on you, immediately Arcane Shift (E) out rather than trying to trade through the slow. Pre-6, you can match her damage if you land W-Q combos consistently, but post-6 the lane dynamic shifts dramatically. Her Bullet Time (R) zones you completely if you don't have Arcane Shift available. Always track her ultimate cooldown and keep your E ready as an escape rather than using it aggressively when her R is up.
Wave Management
Miss Fortune naturally pushes waves with her Double Up bounces and Make It Rain, which you can exploit. Let her push into you early and farm safely under tower with Q last-hits. Your mana sustain with Tear of the Goddess allows you to match her waveclear without overcommitting. Avoid standing in your own minion wave when it's thinning out - this is when her Q bounces become lethal. When the wave is large, position to the side rather than behind minions. If you need to push, use W on the caster minions and Q through them, but be aware this leaves you vulnerable to jungle ganks since MF's E slow sets up ganks extremely well. Freezing near your tower is your safest option in this matchup. MF lacks mobility and becomes extremely vulnerable to ganks when overextended. Call for jungle assistance when she pushes past river - she has no escape tools besides Flash.
Itemization
Rush Tear of the Goddess on first back to sustain through her poke, then build into Trinity Force or Iceborn Gauntlet depending on team compositions. The Sheen proc helps you match her burst damage on short trades. Against aggressive MF players, consider an early Vampiric Scepter for sustain. Serylda's Grudge is essential as a second or third item - the slow helps you kite her in fights and the armor penetration cuts through any defensive items she builds. If she's building lethality (Youmuu's Ghostblade, Hubris), you'll need to respect her burst potential and consider Guardian Angel earlier than usual. Boots choice matters significantly: Ionian Boots of Lucidity help you have Arcane Shift available more often to escape her ultimate, while Plated Steelcaps reduce her auto-attack and Q damage substantially. Choose based on whether she's building lethality or crit.
Team Fighting
Miss Fortune's Bullet Time can single-handedly win teamfights if your team clumps. Your role is to either interrupt her channel with damage pressure or position to flank and burst her before she can ult. Never group tightly with your team when her R is available. Your poke advantage shines in siege scenarios - use Trueshot Barrage (R) and Q spam to whittle down her team before fights begin. MF wants to fight in chokepoints where her ultimate hits multiple targets; you want to fight in open areas where you can kite and she can't funnel your team. If MF channels Bullet Time, you have two options: Arcane Shift aggressively onto her to interrupt with burst damage, or E sideways out of the cone. The worst option is trying to walk out - the slow from the ability will keep you in the damage zone. Coordinate with your team to have someone ready to CC her during channel.
Pro Tips
- Track Miss Fortune's Strut (W) passive movement speed - if she hasn't taken damage recently, she'll run you down. Poke her with Q periodically just to remove her passive speed bonus, even if you're not looking to trade.
- When she's positioning aggressively near a low-HP minion, immediately sidestep - she's setting up the kill-bounce combo.
- Save Arcane Shift specifically for her Bullet Time in teamfights. The 28-16 second cooldown on your E needs to be available when she presses R, or you will die in the channel.
Common Mistakes
- Using Arcane Shift aggressively in lane when Miss Fortune has Bullet Time available. She will immediately R your landing position and you'll take the full channel duration with no escape.
- Standing behind low-health minions during trades. This is exactly where MF wants you for Double Up bounces that deal massive damage and can crit.
- Trying to match her DPS in extended auto-attack trades. Her Love Tap passive and Strut attack speed steroid mean she wins every sustained fight - stick to Q poke and disengage.
