This matchup revolves around Darius's ability to punish Aatrox's telegraphed Q (The Darkin Blade) windows. When Aatrox begins his Q animation, immediately walk into him rather than away - this positions you inside his Q hitbox where he deals reduced damage and misses the critical sweetspot. Use your E (Apprehend) to pull Aatrox mid-Q animation, canceling his combo and forcing him into your preferred melee range where your passive (Hemorrhage) stacking dominates. Your W (Crippling Strike) slow matters for sticking to Aatrox after he uses Umbral Dash (E). The key trading pattern is: let Aatrox use Q1, walk into him, auto-W to slow, then E him when he tries to Q2 or dash away. Once you have 3-4 passive stacks, Aatrox cannot win the extended trade even with his healing. Aatrox's W (Infernal Chains) is his only reliable way to set up his Q sweetspots. If you get hit by W, immediately use Ghost or walk diagonally toward Aatrox rather than directly away - the pull zone is easier to escape when moving sideways.
